Prof. Dr. Wieslaw Macek | Astronomy and Astrophysics | Best Researcher Award

Space Research Centre, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw | Poland

prof. Dr. Wiesław Marian Macek is a distinguished Full Professor of Physical Sciences (since 2001) whose work bridges astrophysics, space physics, and applied mathematics. He earned his master’s degree in 1972 and PhD in physics in 1976 from the Faculty of Physics, University of Warsaw, and obtained a habilitation in physical sciences (space physics) in 1988 at the same university. Over his career he has authored on the order of 100 original peer-reviewed articles in leading journals (Nature, Science, Astrophysical Journal, Physical Review Letters, JGR – Space Physics, MNRAS, among others) and a monograph The Origin of the World: Cosmos or Chaos? (2020). He participated in the Plasma Wave Science team on the Voyager mission to Neptune in 1989. His current research centers on nonlinear dynamics, deterministic chaos, fractal and multifractal structures in space plasmas, turbulence in magnetospheric and heliospheric environments, and the philosophical foundations of science. He has been recognized by his peers for sustained contributions to space plasma physics. In summary, Macek’s career exemplifies a rigorous blend of theoretical, observational, and conceptual inquiry, advancing our understanding of complexity in cosmic plasmas.
