Mengjiao Pan is currently pursuing her PhD at the School of Fashion and Textiles, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She previously earned her M.Eng. from the College of Textile and Clothing at Soochow University (2020-2023), where she was ranked first and received an exam-free recommendation. Her master’s thesis focused on the development and evaluation of three-dimensional spacer fabric systems for steam protective clothing, achieving a score of 90 (ranked 2nd out of 29). Mengjiao also holds a B.Sc. from the College of Education and a B.Eng. from the College of Textile and Clothing, both at Soochow University (2016-2020). Her undergraduate thesis was on the design of warp-knitted fabrics for steam protective clothing, scoring 88 (ranked 4th out of 55). Experience 

Mengjiao Pan has accumulated diverse experience in both academic and industry settings. Since 2020, she has been the League Secretary at the College of Textile and Clothing, Soochow University. During her undergraduate studies, she also served as the League Secretary Assistant from 2018 to 2020. In addition to her leadership roles, Mengjiao interned at Bosch (Suzhou) from August to December 2019, gaining practical industry experience. Her involvement in student organizations includes serving as the President Assistant for the Xinya Badminton Association and as a Minister in the Graphic Centre of Students’ Association Union at Soochow University. Mengjiao’s experience highlights her leadership skills, commitment to her field, and ability to balance academic excellence with extracurricular activities. Mengjiao was awarded the “Textile Light” scholarship and was recognized as an excellent postgraduate. In 2021, she received the “He He” scholarship and a special-class scholarship for postgraduates. She also won the third prize for Jiangsu Textile Academic Papers. Mengjiao’s undergraduate achievements include multiple consolidated awards, special-class awards, and recognition for innovation and entrepreneurship. She was also a pacemaker and star of volunteer service. Mengjiao Pan’s research interests lie in the development and application of advanced materials and textile structures, with a focus on smart textiles and functional clothing. Her work aims to benefit society by creating innovative textile solutions. She specializes in analyzing material performances using instrumented mannequins and bench scale tests, and developing novel functional clothing, including personal protective equipment, smart and intelligent clothing, and sportswear. Mengjiao is particularly interested in the characterization, understanding, and modeling of heat and moisture transfer in clothing systems under various thermal environments. Her research includes proposing new protocols for material performance analysis and designing textiles that enhance thermal comfort and protection. Mengjiao’s work contributes to the advancement of smart textiles, aiming to improve the safety, comfort, and functionality of clothing through the integration of advanced textile technologies.
