He earned his M.D. from Aristotle University, his Ph.D. in Medicine focusing on pneumoperitoneum and intra-abdominal perfusion, and an M.Sc. in Surgery of the Liver–Biliary Tract–Pancreas from Democritus University of Thrace. He further enriched his expertise through fellowships at prestigious institutions, including Heidelberg University, the Technical University of Munich, and St. Mark’s Hospital in London. With a prolific academic output of 392 publications, including 87 international journal articles, his research has achieved an H-index of 22, with over 1,637 international citations and a research interest score of 967.8. His primary research interests span hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, surgical oncology, minimally invasive techniques, and trauma surgery.
