Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nahla Hemdan | Engineering and Technology | Best Researcher Award

National Research Centre | Egypt

Dr. Nahla Abdel-Fattah Hemdan is a researcher specializing in soil and water management for sustainable agriculture, with a PhD in Irrigation Systems from Humboldt University of Berlin and an MSc in Soil Sciences from Assiut University. Her work spans drip irrigation technologies, soil reclamation under salinity and desertification, use of organic and bio-fertilizers (including biochar, vermicompost, moringa seed cake), and modeling (e.g. AquaCrop) to improve water use efficiency and fertility in arid and degraded soils. She has published multiple peer-reviewed articles in international journals, supervised by international internships and training programs. Her Google Scholar profile shows an h-index of 5, with ~44 total citations. She has contributed to projects aimed at climate change adaptation, sustainable agricultural productivity, saline soil improvement, efficient water and fertilizer use, and crop tolerance under abiotic stress. Dr. Hemdan is active in organizing workshops and international conferences, reviewing for journals, and holds several patents on composts and organic soil amendments. Her research interests include soil salinity, water scarcity, organic amendments, soil health restoration, irrigation technology, modeling of crop water use. Her work is increasingly recognized for its impact in improving land use sustainability under environmental stresses.
