Gaziantep University | Turkey

Mustafa Pehlivan is an Associate Professor of Botany with an academic background spanning undergraduate to doctoral training in Biology, completed at Çukurova University and Gaziantep University, with doctoral research focused on floristic composition and hemeroby analysis and master’s work on regional herbaceous flora. His academic experience includes long-term service as Doctor Faculty Member and Associate Professor at Gaziantep University, contributing to both biology and medicinal–aromatic plants programs. His research integrates botany, ethnobotany, plant ecology, phytochemistry, and experimental biology, with a strong emphasis on Lamiaceae species, bioactive plant extracts, green-synthesized nanoparticles, and their anticancer, antioxidant, apoptotic, and anti-inflammatory effects on cancer cell lines. He has supervised numerous completed and ongoing master’s and doctoral theses and has served as investigator or principal investigator in many nationally funded research projects, including TÜBİTAK and university-supported grants. His scholarly output is indexed in international databases, with documented publications, citations, and an established h-index reflecting sustained scientific impact. He has contributed to biodiversity inventories, traditional knowledge documentation, environmental contamination studies, and applied biomedical plant research. Overall, his work bridges classical botany with modern molecular and cellular approaches, supporting both biodiversity conservation and translational biomedical science.
