Bárbara Lomba Fernández obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Santiago de Compostela (2016–2020), where she laid the groundwork for her technical and scientific pursuits. She then advanced her education with a Master’s in Industrial Engineering at the University of Vigo (2020–2022), where she deepened her knowledge of engineering, particularly in industrial processes and systems. Since January 2023, she has been working as a Chemical Engineer at Grupo BIOSUV, University of Vigo, focusing on water treatment research, specifically the development of new materials and optimization of processes for contaminated water. Before that, she worked as a Junior Engineer at Dinak (2022–2023), where she was responsible for the design, calculation, and dimensioning of modular chimneys, self-supporting masts, and structures. Her earlier role involved assisting with electrochemical research at Grupo BIOSUV, working on the HIBRITEC+ project. During her time at Votorantim Cimentos (2020), she gained valuable insight into laboratory tests and quality control for mortar production. These roles have provided Bárbara with strong research, design, and technical skills across different sectors, reinforcing her career in chemical engineering.
